Title
Pressure Sealed Plastics/Speed Plastics Ltd/Flexus Ltd
Date
1955-1989
Description
Initially a London-based firm, Pressure Sealed Plastics (PSP) was purchased in 1966. The business was finally transferred fully from Peckham to Chesterfield in May 1970. In 1986 the organisation was divided into two separate trading operations, Consumer Products and Industrial Products. The former was responsible for waterbeds, and the Rompa range of therapy/play products. The latter took over the remaining operations together with the manufacturing of the Rompa products, waterbeds, etc.
PSP's name was changed to Flexus Plastics Ltd in 1987. Although operating as part of the Packaging Division of Robinson and Sons, it was a separate legal company within the Group. It was based at Chatsworth Road in Chesterfield, and in 1988 a Medical Plastics Unit was opened at Flixborough. However, the operation closed in 1989 and was divided between the Healthcare division, the Rompa division, and a management buyout.
