Administrative History | The Cavendish Bridge at Shardlow was built under an act of 1758 and the Harrington Bridge at Sawley under an act of 1788. The two trusts were separate until 1882 when the Cavendish Bridge trustees took over the Harrington Bridge. The Bridges were vested in the Derbyshire and Leicestershire County Councils by an act of 1896 and the trust was wound up in 1898 after surplus funds had been used to build a new bridge at Borrowash. |
