Wilkes family of Overseal, cheese factors
Administrative History
Joseph Wilkes II (1698-1769) started the family business as a grocer and cheese factor at Overseal. The family trade was continued by his sons Joseph Wilkes III (1733-1805), John (1728-1790) and Thomas (1745-1795).
Custodial History
These photocopies of original correspondence were purchased from Staffordshire Record Office in October 2000.
