Title
Letter from George Mundy RN to his father Edward Miller Mundy regarding the gunning of Sebastien and his feelings about the war
Date
23 Nov 1807
Description
A lengthy and wordy letter of feeling. Mentions the Copenhagen attack, the Danes and his frustration at British political policy not declaring war. Concern for trade and merchants. Consternation at the plight of a contemporary expected to depart Lisbon, leaving belongings and wealth to try and resettle in another country such as Gibraltar, Malta or Sicily with a similar climate without the means or status to do so comfortably. A letter of recognition received from the Admiralty for gallant conduct at Begu.
