Administrative History
There has been a Wesleyan chapel in Coton in the Elms since at least 1867. The old chapel was sold and a new one built in 1922. This chapel was closed and sold in 2001. Coton in the Elms Methodist Chapel was part of the Woodville and Swadlincote Circuit until 1955, and then part of the South Derbyshire Circuit. For circuit records see D2740.
