Administrative History
Milford dye house formed part of the industrial complex built by the Strutts in the early nineteenth century in addition to their Belper works. In 1897, after the formation of the English Sewing Cotton Company Ltd, Milford became a bleaching and dyeing centre with thread production at Belper and Masson Mills. By the early 1990s all production at these works had ceased.
Custodial History
This item was produced by the Royal Commission on Historic Monuments (England) for the National Buildings Record. The record was transferred by the Environment and Countryside Section of the Planning and Environmental Services Department of Derbyshire County Council in December 1999.
