Administrative History
At the time of the Napoleonic Wars in 1803, letters were sent out by the agent of the Duke of Rutland to his tenants on the formation of a local militia. This letter was addressed to a member of the Elliott family who lived at Baslow, possibly Thomas Elliott (1750-1804).
Custodial History
The letter was donated to the Derbyshire Record Office in September 1999 by a descendant of the recipient of the letter.
