Apr. 6 1527 Lease for 80 years from Stephen Constable of Gatfos, Anne widow of Rauffe Constable and Ellis Asby Gent. of Gatfos, to Nicholas Hewyt of Wayllys, of the manor place of Barbrowth, with a parcel of ground called the Welyard. With husbote and Haybote, and right to “stub-up” wood and thorn, and to sell it, provided it be not to the harm of the lord.

June 10 1532 Conveyance from Richard Welles, Oliver Leder, William Jefson and John Gylle Gentlemen, to Cristofer More, William Cowper, William Selyok, John Selyok, John Parker and Thomas Barley Gentlemen, of all their manor of Barleburgh, and all their messuages, lands, woods, mines, rents etc. in Barleburgh, Whytwell, Clowne, Romley and Kynwaldmarsshe, which they obtained by recovery against Stephen Constable Gent., Mich. 1530. Mar. 12 1537 Grant from Thomas Babyngton Esq., son and heir of Anthony Babyngton, knight, to Barnard Babyngton his brother, fourth son of Anthony (in completion of the will of Anthony and of a Judgment of Anthony Fitzherbert knight, Justice of King’s Bench, Henry Sacheverelll knight, George Gryffyth Babyngton Esq. and Ralph Sacheverell Esq., between Dame Katherine Babyngton, widow of Anthony, and John Babyngton, brother of Thomas, of the one part, and Thomas of the other) of all his lands, rents and services in Pupley and Barlebourghe, lately in the occupation of George Perpoynte Esq, which he inherited from his father, who died sole seised of them. June 4 1537 Sale from Richard Wellys Gent. of London to William Selyok Gent. of London, of his manor of Barleburgh with appurtenances in Whitwell, Clowne, Romley and Kymwaldmarshe, lately in the possession of Stephen Constable; also all his right in the manor of Catfosse; also all his interest in the sum of 20o marks in which the said Stephen stays bound to him.

Jul. 31 1570 Grant from John Walton of Barlestrope in the parish of Clowne, for 20 marks, to Francis Rodes Esq., of Staveley Wudthorpe, of a meadow called Thomas Medowe in the demesne of Barlebroughe. June 20 1573 Grant from Franncis Leek knight of Sutton in le Dale to Franncis Rodes Esq. of Staveley Woodthorp for £343/6/8d., of lands, woods, etc. in the vill and parish of Barlebrough or Barleyboroughe called le Stubbes, Thompsons Hole, Whitcarr Sprynge, Houghton Sprynge and brode medowe sprynge together with all his coal-mines in the said vill, territory and parish, which he obtained by grant of George Selyok Gent. With power of attorney to Francis Nevyll and Thomas Bower to grant seisin. Wit. – Mychell Babyngton, Denyse Lache, Thomas Carteledge, Reginald Lee, Thomas Leek, Edward Maddison. May 20 1574 Bond in £100 from Gervase Babington Gent. of Trinity Coll., Camb., to Francis Rodes Esq, of Staveley Woodthrope in connection with terms of an indenture by which he granted to him his lands in Barlebroughe – that on payment of 20/- he will deliver to Francis his part of the indenture for cancellation and will not claim a yearly rate of £5 reserved to him by the terms of the (word/s missing).
15. Oct. 7 1574 Sale from Gervis Babyngton of Trinity College, Camb., to Franncis Rodes Esq., of Staveley Woodthorpe, of lands and grounds called Pybleys, Pybleys Sprynge and Nicholl Carr; and all lands in the several tenures of Thomas Hayshall, Widow Marshe, Richard Rawlyn, Barnarde Stele, Nicholas Ball and Thomas Ware; and all his other lands in Barlebroughe. Annual rent £26/2/8d. during Gervis’ lifetime, and afterwards £11/2/8d, Franncies to pay £40 towards the building of a house on land in Whittington leased for 21 years by Gervis a year before; and if he should get coal in Pybleys, to deliver to Gervis at the pits there 10 loads annually.
