Description
Nicholas Longford and Thomas de Gawaill, summoned to reply by what warrant they claimed to have free warren in their demesne lands in Barlborough, state through their attorney John Cokot that King Henry III by charter dated Oct. 25, 1249, granted to Matthew de Hathersedge free warren there; that the manor was then divided between his daughters Cicilia and Matilda; Cicilia’s part descending to her son Nigel, to his son Oliver, to Oliver’s son John, and to John’s son Nicholas (the claimant) and Matilda’s part descending to her son John, to his son Walter, and to Water’s son Thomas (claimant).
