4. Oct .12 1545 Bargain and sale from Richard Townley Esq. of townley, Lancs. To George Lassells of Sturton in the Cley, of the manors of Gaytforde and Harwell, and all his other manors and lands in Worsop, Kylton, Shyrocke, Carberton, Blythe, Serlbye, Raynskill, Torworth, Mathersey, Everton, Harwell, Scaftworth, Bole, Ordesall, Sturton, Grenley, Heyton, Bolome, Moregate, Estrefforde, Westretforde, Mylneton, Lytle Markeham, Eton, and Babworth; also the manor of Woodsetts, Yorks. For which Lassells assures to Townley, for life, 4 messuages, 4 barns, 3 gardens, 3 orchards, 231 a. 1 ½ r. of land, 73 a. 1r. of meadow and 106 a. of pasture at Sturton in the Cley; 6 cottages, a barn, a toft, 6 gardens and 2 orchards in Sturton and Littleborrowe; 39 a. of pasture in Sturton; and 220 a. of meadow in Sturton and Littleborrowe. (Total of 67 tenants’ names given). Annual value of these lands £58/0/10. He also pays him £200 and covenants to pay a further £600. With collateral security of the manor of Townley. With power of attorney to Anthony Thorney Gent. and John Procter yeoman to grant seisin.
