Administrative History | Derbyshire Stone Ltd. were the owners of Ashwood Dale Quarry, Fairfield, which they held on lease from the Chatsworth Estate Company. In 1947 they wished to extend the quarry in a north and northwesterly direction. In May of that year they forwarded an application to Buxton Corp. The corporation had several objections. The main disagreement was over the proposed removal of a rocky face overlooking the A6. The arguments were heard in front of the regional controller of the Minstry of Town & Country Planning on 19 February 1948. |
