Records comprise papers collected together by Herbert Clifford Brooke Taylor relating to civil defence in Derbyshire, 1942-1944, including manuals of the Derbyshire Civil Defence Instructor's Association; circulars issued by Derbyshire County Council Civil Defence and Air Raid Precaution Departments; correspondence and papers of the Bakewell Invasion Committee, of which H. C. Brooke Taylor was Chairman; papers relating to civil defence measures and training programmes in Matlock and Wirksworth, and minutes of the Derbyshire Branch of the British Red Cross Society, 1951-1952.

Administrative History
Herbert Clifford Brooke Taylor (1886-1956) was the son of Herbert Brooke Taylor of Bakewell and Mary Tait Mallalieu. During the war, 1914-1918, Herbert Clifford Brooke Taylor held a commissioned rank in the 6th Sherwood Foresters.
