These papers mainly relate to the administration of the estate of Samuel Bagshawe deceased (died 18 Sep 1887). At the time of his death, Samuel Bagshawe was heavily in debt. His daughter, Harriet Wyatt, was only five years old, and was entrusted to the care of Miss Margaret Hodgkinson. She was first educated at Bakewell, and in 1900 attended a school at Chaux la Fonds to learn French. Harriet attained her majority in 1903, and in 1913 married Joseph Lawton Dixon.
