| Administrative History | Patons and Baldwins Limited was formed in 1920 from the merger of J & J Baldwin and Partners (founded in the 1770s in Halifax) and John Paton Son and Co (founded in 1814 in Alloa). Their Matlock branch operated from Derwent Mill on Smedley Street, which was originally known as Victoria Hall and built as a pavilion by the Matlock Pleasure Gardens Company Ltd in 1875. |
