In 1887 land was given for a Parish Room to be built for the benefit of the inhabitants of Thorpe, to be used as a day or Sunday school or a reading, lecture or concert room. It was enlarged in 1904 as a Church or England day school, which closed in 1913. It was again used as a school, for boys evacuated from Essex, in 1940 and 1941. The freehold was transferred to the trustees in 1967. |
