Administrative History | Following the Tithe Act (1836), the Tithe Commissioners became responsible for arranging surveys and investigations into land holdings and the tithes payable on them. For most parishes or townships a map and schedule were drawn up, detailing land ownership, occupation, use, quantity and value. Three copies were made, for the parish/township, the bishop and the Tithe Commissioners. The parish/township and bishop's copies for Bradbourne are held in the Record Office (D944, D2360). The tithe file is published in Derbyshire Tithe Files ed J V Beckett and J E Heath. (pub. Derbyshire Record Society 1995). |
Custodial History | These records were purchased by Derbyshire Record Office in June 1998. |
