Administrative History	The second son of Dr Frank Howitt and his wife Ann (née Adlington), he became a farmer at Old Botley (Oxfordshire), Lowdham (Nottinghamshire) and Awsley (Buckinghamshire). He married Mabel Bella Wilson in 1902. His daughter Dorothy (born in 1903) married Sidney Sutton Smith in 1935.
