This map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:
A Map of Carter Hall Estate in the County of Derby, the property of Thos. Stott. Survey'd by Wm. Fairbank. 1754. Omnibus una quies, operum labor omnibus unus. Surveyor:William Fairbank. Scale: of forty perches on an eighth of an English Mile [1:2400]. Size: 56 x 41 cm. Materials: coloured ink on paper. Centred on: SK391818 Notes: compass rose, top of sheet west. Estate plan showing named closes, with reference numbers and boundaries: house and outbuildings in distinctive perspective: wood, lanes, brook, 'stone quarry', adjoining owners noted: inset 'An East View of Carter Hall', front elevation. Location: Sheffield Archives, NSC 143; copy in DRO, D465/Z/1/1 coloured copy [1905] 27" to a mile.
