Description | Account, written in a woman's hand, of the 'Asgill Affair': the imprisonment of Captain Asgill as a prisoner of war during the American Revolutionary War and his release due to letters written by his mother, Lady Asgill, to the Comte de Vergennes and George Washington. The account, which describes the events and includes copies of letters, is dated 1813.
There are at least three different hands in the book, one of which is probably C R Colvile's, plus some pencil annotations that may have been a later addition, and seem to be comments or corrections on the text.
