Administrative History
In 1880 the Corporation purchased the water undertaking of the Derby Waterworks Company, which had been formed by an 1848 Act of Parliament. The works were based at Breadsall. In 1899 the Derwent Valley Water Board was incorporated to supply water to Derby and other cities.
