Administrative History
There have been several recreation grounds and parks in Derby, the first one being the Arboretum given to the town by Joseph Strutt. The Bass' Recreation Ground was the gift of M T Bass in 1866. Other recreation grounds were located at Chester Green, Markeaton, Normanton and Rowditch.
