Administrative History
An asylum was built at Rowditch for the Borough and opened in 1888. It later became known as the Borough Mental Hospital and then as Kingsway Hospital. Before 1888 it had been the policy of the Borough to use the County Asylum at Mickleover, and, for a few years, to use the Asylum at Leicester.
