Administrative History
The County Council Order establishing the Eckington Parish Council in 1894 divided the parish into four wards; Eckington, Renishaw, Mosborough and Ridgway Among the functions it assumed were those of the Eckington Burial Board which had been established in 1874 In 1896 the Lighting and Watching Act was adopted for the Eckington Ward. In 1936 its provisions were extended to include portions of the Mosborough and Renishaw ward, and in 1946 it was extended to the whole parish.
