Description
Summary: he fears his father is dead, has been many hundred miles up country: gives description of India, the heat, position, religion, country abounds with meat, rice, oil, honey and cattle of all sorts, elephants, camels, tigers, antelopes, jackals and several other beasts of prey: the East India Company is at war with Tippoe Sultan and has taken most of the capital garrisons; troops from Bengal with the East Cornwalls now on Madras Establishment: Forman to show the letter to Soar's father, hopes he will forgive him (JS) for all that is past
