Administrative History | Middleton by Wirksworth Parish Council was set up under the terms of the Local Government Act 1894. It was responsible for providing local services in the forms of street lighting, recreation grounds, public seating, burial grounds and other amenities (where appropriate). Under the Derbyshire Review Order of 1934 the parish of Middleton by Wirksworth was transferred to the parish and urban district of Wirksworth. The Clerk of Wirksworth Urban District Council took custody of the records, which passed to the Wirksworth Town Council, after Local Government reorganisation in 1974. |
