Administrative History
John Wright of Nottingham inherited an estate at Ripley and Riddings in 1789 and became a partner in the Butterley Company, a position he held until his retirement in 1830. His two-thirds share in the capital of the Company passed to his descendants. In the mid-19th century Osmaston Manor near Ashbourne was built for Francis Wright and remained in the family until 1883. Another branch of the family purchased Yeldersley Hall near Ashbourne
Custodial History
These documents came to Albert Leslie Wright as executor of Philip Wright. They were transferred to the Record Office in 1995 via the British Records Association (BRA no. 2606).
