Administrative History | John Wright of Nottingham inherited an estate at Ripley and Riddings in 1789 and became a partner in the Butterley Company, a position he held until his retirement in 1830. His two-thirds share in the capital of the Company passed to his descendants. In the mid-19th century Osmaston Manor near Ashbourne was built for Francis Wright and remained in the family until 1883.
