| Administrative History | The church that became Stanton Primitive Methodist Church was built by David Smith and sold to the Primitive Methodist Connexion in 1856 for £2 per year for his lifetime. Mr Smith died in 1863, following which the Trustees came into full ownership of the building. The last service to be held in the chapel building was in April 2009, and a final service for the congregation as a group was held at St Mary's parish church a year later. It was part of the Ashbourne Methodist Circuit. |
