Administrative History | Ridgeway Isolation Hospital opened in 1895 and was run by the Belper Joint Hospital Committee until the establishment of the National Health Service in 1948. It later became a "Hospital for the mentally handicapped", with a unit admitting children under 16 years of age during the years 1980-1984.
