Administrative History | Buxton Congregational Church was built in Hardwick Street in 1859 and enlarged in 1880. Sunday Schools were built in Hardwick Square in 1880. The church building ceased to be used in 1978 and the site was later sold. The Sunday School buildings, which had been let from 1940-1978 for weekday use by Hardwick Square School, were converted for church use in 1978. From at least the 1930s until 1951 the church was known as Buxton and Whaley Bridge Congregational Church. It became the Buxton United Reformed Church in 1972. |
