Reciting that men of virtue and commendable disposition should be remembered and honoured by bearing the scutcheon, helm and crest, tokens of honour so that others should be stirred by their example, and that he is informed by report of ancient gentlemen that Gregory Stonyng of Lichfield, Staffordshire gent., has long continued in virtue and in all his acts and demeaning deserves to be admitted to the number and company of ancient gentleman, now grants to Stonyng and his posterity a scutcheon with helm and crest: Silver/a Chevron gules/thereon three Marlettes Surdant of the field/between 3 pellates/upon each pellate a floure de luce Silver/Upon his crest a dragons head/rased bendy in bylleke of vi peces/azure and gold/langed gules/set up
on a wreath silver and gules/mantelles gules/lined silver/buttonet/gold
