| Title | Josh. Addison at Alfred Place, Salford, to James Longsdon, Ashford |
| Date | 2 Mar 1820 |
| Description | Not having heard concludes James has not met with a calving cow likely to suit them, begin to be very short of milk as it is true the old cow should be let dry for she should calve late April and the other should not be milked much longer. Some fairs in this neighbourhood but not being able to attend them himself and having no friend to look out for him, writer is under necessity of repeating his obligations to James. Glad to hear if James thinks can find cow due to calve soon otherwise must apply to some dealer in this neighbourhood - like having her out of the hot fire. They charge so much. If James goes to Penrith Fair this year writer will ask his brother in Cumberland to buy him 2 galloway cows in calf and they could come up with James at the least trouble and expense. Writer has not heard anything from William lately. Anxious to hear how he goes on. Respects to James' parents and sisters. Writer has not heard from James' father for a long time. When weather warmer will come with Mr Hunter in his gig to Derbyshire - easy way of travelling for an invalid like writer. Weather now extremely cold and blusterous with intervals of frost and snow. |
