| Administrative History | The charity was established under the will of Joseph Middlemore (1698) and augmented by his widow after a court case in the first quarter of the eighteenth century and by her will (1725). The charity maintained almshouses at Stanton-by-Dale, sometimes known as Stanton Hospital, and held property in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts., and Long Bennington, Lincs. |
