Transcript or IndexIncluding the following entry:
"Allice daughter of a [?]Creeole born at [?]Thomas Roome's baptis'd the 6th day of Feb[...] 1635"
Primarily due to damage (of which many similar instances appear throughout the register), it is uncertain that the first letter of the word Creeole is a C, it does not match any other letters on the match, but is close to the capital 'C' used in other entries. The date is also somewhat uncertain as the majority of other entries are given in Roman numerals, the month is also virtually illegible, but February is consistent with the entries before and after Alice.

The Shorter Oxford English Dictionary (1959) gives the earliest use of the term Creole as 1604 indicating that it infers “no connotation of colour”, but usually refers to a person born and naturalised in the West Indies, Americas or Mauritius, with European or African heritage. Therefore, it is unknown whether Alice was the daughter of European or African parents.
