`Wirksworth Political Committee Book'
With letters, minutes and copy letters regarding election campaigns of Sir Roger Gresley and Sir George Crewe.
Copy letters include
1. 11.12.1834 To Jos Wass reporting claim that all his mining employees who do not vote for Lord Waterpark will be discharged.
2. 12.12.1834 `Scandalous registration Bill'
3. 15.12.1834 `Can drink ale but must not consume gin when Sir Roger speaks against it'
4. 16.12.1834 Handbill circulating in which `Old Cobbett' [?William Cobbett] is said to be supporting the Tories;
Gresley's party accused of being `advocates of war' and of obtaining votes by `swig'. Counter handbill recommended
1 volume, marbled covers labelled `Sir Roger Greisley'.
