Title
Marriage settlement on the marriage (to be had) between Edward Wade son and heir of Edward Wade and Anne Welles daughter of Thomas Welles, by which Edward Wade, the father, of Clipston, yeoman, agrees with Thomas Welles of Bowdon Magna, Leics, that after the solemnisation of the marriage he will convey to Thomas Hall of Clipston, yeoman, and Miles Smith of Bowdon Magna, yeoman, his capital messuage in Clipston, two closes called Upper Close and Nether Close and four yardlands in Clipston: moiety of capital messuage and two yardlands and Upper Close to the use of Edward Wade the father until the marriage, then to the use of Edward Wade the son for life, then after his decease a moiety of the capital messuage, moiety of Nether Close and 1½ yardlands to the use of Anne in her widowhood: the other half yardland, moiety of capital messuage and other buildings, moiety of Nether Close and 1½ yard lands to the use of the heirs male of said Edward the son; the other moiety of the capital messuage, moiety of Nether Close and other 2 yardlands to the use of Edward the father for life, then to the use of Edward the son and his heirs male, in default the whole property to the use of the heirs female of Edward the son until the sum of £200 is raised from the rents and profits; once this is raised to the use of the heirs male of Edward the father. Schedule attached showing the way in which house is to be divided between father and son. Dated 12 February 5 Charles I [1630]
