Administrative HistoryThe first Congregational Chapel in Matlock was built at Matlock Green in 1848. It was replaced in 1865, when a new chapel was built on Matlock Bank. This remained until 1970 when the church was demolished. The congregation moved into its Sunday School building off Chesterfield Road, which was erected in 1902. The church became a United Reformed Church in 1972. There was a school at Matlock Green from 1860.
