| Administrative History | Records of Peter Webster School on Sheffield Road, Whittington Moor which opened in 1876 as an all age mixed school, called Webster's Whittington Moor Endowed School. In 1911 the infants moved to a separate building, (for records of the Infant school, see D3615). The school was re-named Whittington Moor Council School and by 1918 separate boys and girls accommodation was provided. In 1928 the senior girls transferred to a Girls Modem School, Violet Markham School, and the boys school was renamed the Peter Webster Secondary Modern School for Boys. The school closed down in 1967. |
