Administrative History | Following the Tithe Commutation Act (1836), large-scale maps were drawn up for townships and parishes throughout the country. Individual plots of land were numbered and the accompanying schedule lists the owner and occupier of each plot, together with information about its use, acreage, valuation and tithe liability.
The township of Tintwhistle [Tintwistle], including the hamlets of Arnfield and Micklehurst, was in the parish of Mottram-in-Longdendale, co Cheshire. Tintwistle was transferred to Derbyshire in 1974 but Arnfield and Micklehurst were not transferred. |
Custodial History | The records were deposited in January 1985. |
