Minutes 1848-1918; rule books 1850-1950; cash books 1883-1976; collectors books 1906-1976; annual returns 1915-1976; correspondence 1914-1972; papers re. investments 1893-1975; death certificates of members 1920-1976. The only membership records surviving are the death certificates 1920-1976 which give evidence of members' occupation, address, age, etc.

Darley Abbey Benevolent Burial Society
Administrative History
The Darley Abbey Benevolent Burial Society, a contributory society which paid benefits for members funerals, was established in 1848. Membership was restricted to these who lived in Darley Abbey and who were employed at the cotton and paper mills there. The village was divided into four districts for the purpose of collection of contributions.

These records were deposited in Derbyshire Record Office in September 1984.
