Somercotes Infant School
Administrative History
This school was opened in January 1868 as a Church of England Infants School. The same building was also used for the older mixed class until a new building close by was opened in October 1874. Following an academy conversion agreement dated 31 August 2017 (see DCC/LG/CX/3422) Somercotes Infant and Nursery School ceased to exist, being replaced by an academy of the same name.
Custodial History
Records were deposited in Derbyshire Record Office in two accessions, on 01 January 1984 and 03 September 2003. Ownership passed to Derbyshire County Council when the school ceased to exist. A further donation was received from the successor academy in November 2025.
