Administrative History | Chelmorton Infant School was built as a National School in 1882, but later became a County Primary School. Until July 1968 the Chelmorton school took both infant and junior children. The juniors were transferred to Harpur Hill Primary School in September 1968. The Chelmorton School functioned as an infant school until July 1983 when it ceased to be maintained. The children were transferred to the Harpur Hill School, but the premises were to continue in use as an annexe to Harpur Hill Primary School for infants who would have attended Chelmorton School. |
Custodial History | It is recorded that two Governors' minute books, the earliest dating from 1820, were held for save keeping in the Parish Council's safe. Since the safe was destroyed, it is believed that the volumes have remained in private hands in the village. The records were transferred to the Record Office in December 1983 and August 2019. |
