Administrative History | The first bodies for the specific purpose of carrying out research on hard coke were the Midland, Northern and Scottish Coke Research Committees, set up in the 1920s. From the 1944, the British Coke Research Association (referred to throughout the rest of the list as the BCRA) took responsibility for collective research for industry. In 1958 the BCRA established the Coke Research Centre at Wingerworth, which closed in 1983. |
