Description | This set of records comprises four series, although this is not reflected in the referencing system. In each case, a proportion of the records associated with each circuit pre-date its foundation. This is because the records were already in use when the functions and duties of an old circuit were conferred on a new one.
D2670/J/MM/1-20: records of Derby Derwent Circuit, 1915-1977. This circuit was formed in 1934 from the amalgamation of the Derby King Street Circuit (see D2670/J/MW/10-20) and the Derby Second Circuit (see D2670/J/MP/1-2). In Sep 1977 this circuit united with the Queen’s Hall Circuit to form the Derby Derwent Mission Circuit.
D2670/J/MM/21-39: records of Queen's Hall Mission Circuit (or Derby Wesleyan Mission Circuit), 1906-1977. The London Road Wesleyan Church was rebuilt in 1926-1927 and was then to be known as the Queen’s Hall Mission, a centre for House Mission work. The Mission comprised a circuit on its own. --- In September 1977, the Derby Derwent Mission Circuit was formed from the union of the Derby Derwent and Queen’s Hall Circuits.
D2670/J/MM/40-45: records of the Derby (Derwent Mission) Circuit, 1819-1989. This Circuit was formed by the amalgamation of Derby Derwent and Queen’s Hall Mission Circuits in 1977
D2670/J/MM/46-53: Queen's Hall Methodist Mission, London Road, Derby, 1964-1967. These records relate primarily to the building itself, rather than to a particular circuit. |
