Administrative History
Turnditch was originally a chapelry within the parish of Duffield. Baptisms began in 1783 and the churchyard was consecrated in 1846. It became an independent parish in 1847, when it was licensed for marriages. Until about 1847 Shottle and Postern was part of the chapelry. Windley was added to the parish in 1922.

The Record Office holds a transcript compiled from the Bishops’ Transcripts at Lichfield Joint Record Office of Turnditch baptisms 1783-1791 and 1795-1812 (D2007 G/Z 5/4) and microfilm copies of registers from 1813 (baptisms), 1847 (marriages) and 1846 (burials).
