This map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:
A survey of lands in Hognaston the estate of the Hon'ble Sir Phillip Gell. 1710. Surveyor: Samuel Hutchinson. Scale: of 10 chains [1:4000] .Size: 42 x 67 cm. Materials: parchment, coloured but very faded, colouring according to tenant. Centred on: SK235505 Notes: north at top of sheet. Shows Hognaston Church in stylised elevation, The Winn, Holywell, Flattsfield, boundaries, footways: tenants named in some closes, some with numbers, no terrier: some field names and adjoining landowners.
