Title previously read "Papers in the case of Court of Request Thomas Gell v Thomas Birkett alleging corruption of William Gell, Thomas's son, when an apprentice in London" (Amended 10/03/2016, BS, following advice from a customer and information in articles about the case written by historian Ron Slack) - Thomas Gell was actually William's uncle and acted as the lawyer in the case that was brought by William's father, John, who accused Thomas Birkett of being responsible for William's behaviour and debts to Mr Northey
