Description | Asking that, whereas Charles I had on 23 May, 7 CharIes (1631) granted to John Fearne the court house or moot hall of Wirksworth together with several messuages, for 31 years at £1 6s. 8d per annum and had furthermore made him receiver and bailiffe of the manor, lordship and soke of Wirksworth and granted him all the benefits, thereof and whereas John Fearne had died on February 1649/1650 and John Lowe was now in possession of the above lease as executor under the will of the said John Fearne and whereas the petitioner was captain of horse to the late King and had served him faithfully, spending a great part of his estate in the royal service, for which he has since been despoiled and imprisoned, the King renew the lease under the above rent and create him receiver and bailiff of the said lordship manor and soke |
