Description
The heavy rains and the requirements of martial law will retard the crops; Sutherland, the overseer of Blue Mountain wishes to discontinue digging out the molasses bottoms of the hogsheads; suggest advancing Sutherland's salary to £200 a year, and increasing those of the other overseers, propose moving Thomas Baker, a book-keeper at Blue Mountain, to Vere as overseer; 'negro' women [Black peoples] are badly wanted at Blue Mountain where the men go a-roving among the neighbouring estates at night. (with duplicate)
