| Transcript or Index | Jamaica 10th January 1774 Dear Sir I returned yesterday to Kingston from Vere where I expect a tollerable good Crop & upon your other Estates which I expect wil exceed any thing they have hitherto done since their first Settlement. I received your severall favours this day. As the Ship sais so soon cannot answer them particularly yours of the 6th Nove[mbe]r relative to Elizabeth Fickle is veyr generous in you and Agreeable to her, she desires the Bond may be given in her own Name and lodged in the hands of Messrs chandler & Davidson for which they will send her their acknowledgement or receipts & she will forward them a power of Attorney to enable them to receive the Interest. I shall take care to have a discharge put on record for that part of your Father's Will. I am Obliged to you for your kind offer in regard to her sons Education my Intention was to consult her disposition & parts & to give him such an Education as he was cappable to receive & that might enable him to go into some business. A private School under the case & direction of people that will take care of his Moralls will be best. Your advice & assistance when he is of an age to judge of his disposition & bent will be laying me under great Obligations. My time will not permit me to trouble you further then to present my best respects to Mrs Perrin & Miss Perrin and beleive me to be with real regard & esteem Dear Sir your most Obed[ien]t hum[bl]e Ser[van]t Malcolm Laing |
